Local musicians
Yesterday, one of the local Madison musicians came into the store where I work. By now we know him by name, so whenever he comes in, it's "hey, Dave." We sell his cds here at work, and I have to say that it's some of the best kids music I've heard. Of course, if you don't like bluegrass, you probably won't like his music, but most kids seem to like it because it's energetic, and funny, and it isn't very obnoxious. He has a website for his music right here. He's also in a bluegrass band here in town called, I think, The Cork and Bottle String Band. Check it out.
There's also this musician by the name of Art Paul Schlosser who plays down on State Street. I first discovered him when I came to school here. I don't remember exactly the first time I saw him, but he's usually down somewhere near the middle of State playing his out of tune guitar, and taking requests from passers-by. When he sings, it doesn't really fit with the music, and yet somehow it works. When he talks, his speech is slightly slurred, and the overall way he acts makes you think that he did a few too many drugs when he was young. I don't know how I can stand, since I usually don't like things that are out of tune. Art is also a Christian. I can't remember how I found that out, but it was probably from one of his gospel tunes. I remember talking with him about it once or twice, and then somehow got to street witness with him once or twice. I wish I could remember more about it, but I only really remember one story. There was a man that Art seemed to know who just was set against Christianity, but he seemed to like to argue with people about it in a friendly way. I remember trying to reason with the man about sin and judgment so I could then tell him about grace, but Art didn't think that was the way to go, and so we had a conflict in the middle of it. That's not the best way to get things done. I've learned that I should make sure things are understood before I get into an important situation like that. Anyway, Art has a webpage here.
